German Corsair's.

I've noticed I have a lot of German followers, so I thought I'd better do something for you too!

Here's the first attempts at a "What if?" German Marine Corsair as it may have appeared in Afghanistan. These are just rough sketches so to speak. So nothing is final yet.

Busy bee!

Well guys, I've been quite busy these last few weeks getting things ready for my next set of releases. The initial releases will be for "What if?" A-7E Corsair jets from various Air Forces and Navy's. The releases will be a combination of black laser printed decals and vinyl masks. They will be mostly in 48th and 32nd scales with some 72nd scale too.

Here are some shots of various colour combinations, paint selections, test prints and applications that I've been working on.

The red brown you see here was some of the wiped off splash damage I suffered in my model room after applying a little too much pressure to a blocked Vallejo Model Color bottle! I cleared the blockage though! All over me, some of my models in progress and a couple of open books! Lesson learnt!

Something that I've started doing lately is instead of throwing away the mixing cups I use, as I like mixing my own colours frequently, I've been spraying the outside of them with Vallejo black primer, waiting a couple of days then testing out colour combinations for camouflage schemes or just seeing for myself what a particular colour looks like on a surface as opposed to trying to figure out is it exactly what I'm looking for just by looking in the jar.

They don't take up much room, as they can be stacked, and obviously give you a good idea what a particular model will look like colour wise without too much hassle.

Another thing I've been doing is using the cups as a base to test out some of my vinyl masks and decal prints. Plus various paint, varnish and decal setting solution combinations.

Here I've trialled a vinyl mask and laser printed decal layering idea. That's an FS.36320 base with a black decal over the top. I was very happy with the result.

Here are what some of the schemes will look like, so far................................

As you can see, the combination of vinyl masks and black laser printed decals gives the modeller a lot of flexibility in paint schemes and colours of markings. You're only limited by your imagination. It's all "what if?" after all so it's all about having fun and exploration. :)
